The delivery process consists of three parts:
Last-mile causes the biggest problems and that is exactly where Green Express wants to step in with its innovative solution. We employed a fleet of electric cargo bicycles for last-mile package delivery, intending to offer a more sustainable alternative to current practices of using delivery vans in urban centers.
In addition, currently, all courier services in Serbia have large warehouses on the outskirts of cities, serving as a starting point for the delivery routes. Instead of this one large warehouse which is far from every recipient Green Express established multiple smaller warehouses, called micro-hubs. Every neighborhood will have a nearby micro-hub. This allows short last-mile routes, making this part of delivery more economical and ecological.
Micro-hubs also serve as a charging station for bicycles. Green Express uses its own electricity produced by its own solar panels and micro wind turbines located in the micro hub. The bicycles have their own solar panels on the roof of the cargo area, enabling them to charge batteries during work.
